Redbud Arts Center is pleased to present the "About Women" series, a collaboration between Los Angeles surrealist John Altoon and American poet Robert Creeley. This set of ten lithographs is based on Creeley's poems "Anger," "The Woman," and "Distance." Altoon and Creeley first met in Majorca, where they bonded over shared social and political themes. Influenced by discussions with Edward Kienholz, we became familiar with Altoon’s work. Known for his erotic and abstract art, Altoon’s career was cut short by mental illness, yet his legacy endures.
