"Through the Gateless Gate: Ritual of Holding" inaugurates a three-part curatorial trilogy exploring Zen koans, ritual, and care. Presented by okusendō Fine Art & Design and curated by Ann Shi, the exhibition gathers artists across diasporas—Nancy Evans, Liu Tianlian, Charles Arnoldi, jinseok choi, and others—into a contemplative field of stillness and paradox. Inspired by Wumen Huikai’s 13th-century "Gateless Gate", the show treats the gallery as a koan: a threshold that vanishes when sought. Here, bronze, silk, glass, and incense breathe together in quiet relation, inviting viewers to dwell within the question rather than its answer.
