METROPOLITAN OPERA LAFFONT COMPETITION

This is the twelfth year of the newly named Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, to discover great young voices on January 7, 2023 at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Approximately 25 talented young artists will compete for $8,000 in cash prizes and a chance to perform on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera. This prestigious vocal competition, is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, beginning at 10 A.M., ending approximately at 3 P.M., followed by a reception and announcement of the winners. The audience is invited to come for an aria or stay for the day.
