Hands-on Houston: Prayer Pouches

Join us for a celebration of Sonya Clark’s 'Beaded Prayers Project,' her longest-running collaborative artwork! Learn simple sewing techniques to create two sealed beaded packets containing a wish, hope, dream, blessing, or prayer on a piece of paper encased in cloth and adorned with at least one bead on the outer surface. HCCC will add one of your packets to the Beaded Prayers Project on display at Houston Museum of African American Culture and you can take the other home to wear as an amulet!
