6th Annual Houston Reads Day

Literacy Now will host its sixth annual and largest Houston Reads Day on Friday, February 27, 2026, with over 450 volunteers coming together to support and read to more than 17,000 Pre-K–5th grade students at 45 Houston area elementary schools. This year’s event will again feature books by local Houston children’s authors with special guests including Wade Smith, children’s author and former Houston Texan, Houston Texan Legends, the Texans Cheerleaders, Toro, and Alief ISD leadership. This single-day event is for Houstonians to come together to read to students, and support Literacy Now's mission.
